This is a high protein, low fat, low sodium fish that is an excellent source of omega 6 fatty acids, niacin, potassium, phosphorus and vitamin B-12. And, it has the lowest mercury levels of all edible ocean fish. Can I get a high paw on this?
Pacific Cod 1 lb
Tilapia 1/2 lb
Sweet Potato 1lb
Green Bean 4 oz
Broccoli 4 oz
Olive Oil 5 tsp
Safflower Oil 1 tsp
To cook tilapia and cod preheat oven to 350 degrees, put fish in a shallow dish and place in oven. Fish should flake easily with a fork when fully cooked.
To cook sweet potatoes, bring water to a rapid boil in a saucepan. In the mean time, quarter the sweet potatoes. It is not necessary to peel the potatoes but as with all vegetables, wash them thoroughly. Add sweet potatoes to the water and lower heat to a simmer. Cook gently for 15-20 min or until tender. Drain, let cool to the touch and cut into 1/2 inch cubes. Another option is to bake them, drizzle flax seed oil and cinnamon over them as they are baking.
When preparing vegetables, they should always be finely chopped and steamed. This allows vegetables to retain their nutrients while being suitable for digestion.
Fresh produce is always good for dogs. If possible, always use fresh but if one or two items are unavailable and you must use a frozen alternative, make sure there is no added salt or other seasoning or flavoring.
